Hey folks thanks for reading! 2000 Escalade 193k and goin strong!!!
Recently got ambitious and decided I wanted to upgrade the HU in my rig. As I'm researching the project I've found a few concerns and I'm hoping someone can help to narrow the search and steer me in the right direction.

First off the theft lock, will I be able to just plug in the new HU with a wire harness and play on? Will I need to reset or mess with the theft loc bs at all?

Next question, will I be able to use the stock amp and sub? The rig had the Bose system I believe it's the lux variety, I have another sub/amp combo I'm planning to add in but figured if at all possible why not use the existing setup as well? Am I asking too much? Thhinking maybe i could patch into the oem amps harness and run wire from my 4 channel amp back around to it? I'm mechanically savvy and don't mind gettin dirty with this install, I'm just making sure I've got my concerns ironed out before I start digging.

Thanks so much for your time, I appreciate any input you may have. any resources, experiences or helpful hints would be a great help.

Jake

Aftermarket unit, Boss touchscreen DVD, the ambition was to be able to use the oem monitor as well (previous owner yanked the DVD player)

I've done plenty of installs before just never on a rig with such an intricate system, this is the daily driver/ mobile workshop so I don't want to lock it up by doing something stupid.

Just be glad that you have a 2000, starting in 2003, GM decided to make the system that much more intricate with the Databus wires and shit. Had to buy an $80 wiring harness for my '03 Yukon XL :emotions122:.
In order, The theft lock is centered in the HU. the radio is what locks. So with the appropriate wiring harness you will have no issue with the TheftLock.
Next because the wiring harness effectively makes the new HU plug n play, you should have no issues with the stock sub and amp install. Installing aftermarket sub and amp can be a bit more tricky to make work with the stock set up.

Yeah I agree The newer one's suck so bad with all,the wiring crap. I've done a few stereo, installs in the last couple years and figured it be able,to put my pioneer unit into my 2006 YXLD only to see all the wiring and the fact that I had to pick up a module for the damn on star crap. It was irritating so I just took it an audio shop haha. The 200 model is so much less complicated!I just pulled the trigger on a new clarion unit as my Pioneer doesn't work right @ all. This one will be going to be installed professionally as well. Lucky you're mechanically savvy as ill be stuck spending an arm and a leg @ the Damn audio shop to have it installed:banghead:
