Yes the spec d is paintable. Ive done it and seen it done with great results.

Yea it sucks. I'll have to buy a primered grille when I paint to match cause I don't even wanna try and tackle my chrome one.
It's not like the old 80s cars where after 10 years the chrome starts to peel and you could chip off the chrome with you bare fingers lol. They figured out a insane way to adhere the chrome to plastic since the early 2000s. You never see chipped or peeling chrome on vehicles now days

Well that grill is also about $230 delivered and I'd still have to get it painted and then there's the fact it's a vertical center which I don't think looks right on a Denali. And I also have the Denali Down Under lower grill that matches the main one. Oh well. I'll see what my painter says about using the acid. If you look at one of my pics, you can see where it's dull. That might be enough for him to sand it and paint.

I think you could attach stock looking mesh over the vertical bars possibly

Yea I thought you were gonna switch put the Denali inner grille piece with the new grille. Wouldn't be too hard I don't think....I've never done it

Yeah I will still have the center from my old one that should fit. I could figure out a way to remove it and reattach it. It just has tabs that go through holes and then are melted on the backside.

Yeah plastic welded. You can add jb weld for extra strength too. I predict it being easy and totally worth it.

I think I'll order the Spec D one and go that route instead of trying to paint a chrome one that will probably fail some day. I'm sure I can sell the new chrome one I got locally since shipping would cost a lot. No sense paying for paint twice. I'll post pics. Probably start a new thread.

I bought a new chrome grill and had it painted. There was no other option.
