I have the same issue with my Pioneer DD. Backup cam just stopped working one day, thought it was the cam. Plugged a brand new cam in and it's still not working. I didn't go any further. I was thinking it was internal to the HU, maybe a solder joint in the A/V component.

Well that's the thing, manually turning on the cam works, but not when backing up so cannot be bad AV connection. I am having hard time believing that is it the HU, even though all points to it. Does everything else function as normal in you HU? I am leaning towards reverse wire issue somewhere in HU or ground issue. Before running down that it is defective HU, I want to take constant 12v to reverse wire on Pioneer harness to see what is does and also test vehicle's reverse wire that comes out of Metra's interface. Also, are you using factory camera or aftermarket connected to backup lamps? I am glad I am not alone:)

Everything else functions as it should. It's an aftermarket cam that I'm using the reverse green wire as a signal. I haven't really tested anything else other then replacing the cam itself.

Your situation is different. There are topics about this on avic411 forums. Check if your backup lights work.

Alright, I am happy to report that is NOT the HU. Connecting reverse wire from HU harness to a constant 12v does make the camera turn on on reverse. I also tested Metra's reverse wire and it does not have 12v on reverse and this is causing the issue. I am not sure what could break as I replaced the ADBOX1 itself so it has to the wire of something else, somewhere else. As I work around, I can add another wire from vehicle camera harness (as it has 3 and the 3rd one is 12v) directly to HU reverse light thus completely bypassing Metra's harness. What the f...

Edit: might have spoken too soon, still having issues where backup cam is doing wierd stuff. Still troubleshooting.
