Aftermarket Wheel Quality

Good morning -

I am planning to put 22"s (in silver tone) on my Yukon Denali when I rotate off my current tires wearing the factory 20" rims, probably some time in the spring.

From the reading I've done on the topic, it looks like gravity cast wheels are to be avoided. Unfortunately the Discount Tire site doesn't allow me to filter by manufacturing process, but from doing some research I've been able to narrow it down to some options:

My question is, are there any concerns with quality or durability in looking at these options from KMC, Dub, Black Rhino and OE Creations? Would love some input as I continue to evaluate my options and what makes the most sense.

I replace the wheels, tires and exhaust on everything I own to start with, have used many wheels thru the years, and while forged wheels are expensive, so are the cars and trucks of today, for me the last 5 years my wheels have all been Forgeline, and not a single wheel problem on the street or track.

I like 1, 2, 4. My belief is that the 22" wheels are too heavy if steel, so always recommend alloy and stay on the lighter side if possible. Both handling and ride quality will be better with reduced unsprung weight.

Agreed. My chromed steel 22's were super heavy.

I would love to hear some more feedback on different brands of wheels and overall durability, especially in areas where guys have to deal with winter with the dreaded salt or anti ice agents!!!

I ran American Racing 20” AR899’s on my 2007 and for 140K and then put them on my 2008 for another 20K for a total of 160K and they held up great and were exposed to Iowa winter roads.

I have Raceline Wheels on my Tahoe and American racing for the wifes Yukon, but I have winter and summer wheels and tires, no way would I run custom wheels in the winter here in Michigan. If you leave in a winter state I always recommend having 2 sets of wheels and tires, plus you get a lot more life out of the tires

I have the replicas like #4 in black with the chrome accents so far so good had them a bout 2 years and 20 K miles ..... and I live in Chicago .. got mine on Ebay with the GMC center caps.

I've always wondered if those "factory replicas" were worth anything??? I"m guessing living in the Chicago area the winter streets can get pretty nasty with salts and de-icers, which in turn can reek havoc on wheel finishes!!

stay away from Black Rhino wheels
they are made in china w/ really cheap materials
