I hear you on that, brother! Whereabouts in NY is Montgomery? I'm almost dead central, about 45 minutes NE of Syracuse. 1 1/2 hours to Rochester, Binghamton, Watertown or Albany.

Nice deck!
Can I come over??I know what you mean about upkeep on the deck.
Built mine 4 years ago, put a pool in 11 feet from the back of the house, built the deck the full width of the house (26') halfway around it. The pool is a 21' above ground, the deck wraps halfway around both sides, and I have a walkway down the side of the house that is 24'x6'. That's where we make the "buffet line", as I made a 16' long counter out of 3 pieces of decking. I also made a bench up against the fence, also 16' long. And then there's the basketball rim and backboard I built in, overhangs into the pool about 2', but at 9' high......
Then last year, my wife was in NJ with my daughter at a dance competition, and I was walking through Lowes.... and they had a huge stack of cull lumber (ends split/warped/twisted). I bought over $1000 worth of 2x8's and decking for under $250, built another deck about 3/4 of the way around the opposite side, about 8' at the narrowest, by 21' long.
All told, it's almost 750 sq ft. I need to pressure wash it all, and stain it this year.
Hopefully by next year, I can build the outdoor kitchen under the covered patio I am doing off the side of the pool. And off the patio, a nice firepit.
Yes, I am an idiot.
More projects to come too. The neighbors already have a bocce court in their backyard, I need to do something to top them..................... maybe an outdoor bowling alley?
