I've been running on their rear shocks as well as their compressor for a couple years now with very little problems! Their customer service has been great and I'm happy with their product! Look on Ebay for their kits as well once you figure out what you want from them, they are usually cheaper than their online store! If you need any help finding what you need, let me know!

Thanks! Well, I guess I need to confirm that the shocks are the problem and the compressor is ok. I'm going for an alignment, so I might just ask the mechanic to take a look and get a report.

More than likely if you look at the rubber bladders on the shocks, you will probably see them all cracked up and such! Best thing to do is to start the truck in park, then crawl under the truck with a squirt bottle of water and a bit of dish washing soap and spray all around the bladders of the shocks! If you see bubbles then you know you need new shocks! There are a few other places that you can check that can fail and cause the compressor to run all the time so if it's not the shocks let me know and I can tell you where else to look!

Just got back from the mechanic (had an alignment done). He wants 200 in labor just for the rear shocks and 150 for fronts. Now I need to decide if I want to get the shocks from arnott or use a conversion kit (http://www.strutmasters.com/default.asp) with coilovers (cheaper) and resistors to block any autoride codes from triggering.....

I don't have a garage, but I'm thinking I could do the shocks myself with a jack and some tools?

Are those prices for direct replacements or switching over to traditional shocks? Or is that just purely labor price and you provide the shocks?

And yes, this can easily be done with a jack and some sockets with extentions! Don't pay someone those prices (if it's only labor) to do it for you, that's practically robbery!

Yea that's just labor. In any event, I called Arnott and wow- the tech I spoke to gave me an education on the autoride system. I ended up ordering the rears (Bilstein) and compressor. They work with the self leveling system but not with the auto-dampening, which the tech felt was overrated and explained how the bilsteins will outperform the auto system under normal use. It made sense and I was sold.
I am going to try to do them myself and save a few hundred.

Right on my friend, great choice on getting both the compressor as well as the rear shocks! In case you have to warranty either item for failure, they will easily approve it because you purchased both at the same time! Let me know if you have any questions on the install for either the shocks or compressor, there are a few of us that have gone that route as well and we can hook you up with knowledge!

I'm waiting for everything to arrive (holiday is going to delay delivery). It just got very cold here and a nor'easter is expected. Local mechanic is telling me its going to take 3 hours of labor to replace the shocks and compressor, but I think it should be a 1 hour job for them, no? Really wish I had a garage.....

how often was your compressor running? I'm not home to troubleshoot mine, but my compressor runs as soon as you put the key in...runs for about 30 seconds and shuts off, but then i'll hear it a couple of minutes later and then not so much when i'm driving...may just be that I can't hear it, but I didn't expect the compressor to be running that much. BTW it's an 05' AWD and no load in the rear end

Reason I ask, is if this works for you, i'm thinking about upgrading and replacing the compressor as well

thanks,

Jack
