The shocks are very easy to do in a drive way. I'm a busted up old man and I managed to get all 4 done in about 40 min. I went a different way with the compressor. I also put air bags in place of my coils.

Yeah, the shocks are pretty easy to do with a jack with sockets and wrenches! The compressor wasn't bad either, the only hang up for me was that the screws that held the compressor in it's place were tiny and rusted solid so when they all broke off I had to replace with new fasteners! Either way, save the cash and do it yourself!

how often was your compressor running? I'm not home to troubleshoot mine, but my compressor runs as soon as you put the key in...runs for about 30 seconds and shuts off, but then i'll hear it a couple of minutes later and then not so much when i'm driving...may just be that I can't hear it, but I didn't expect the compressor to be running that much. BTW it's an 05' AWD and no load in the rear end

Reason I ask, is if this works for you, i'm thinking about upgrading and replacing the compressor as well

thanks,

Jack

I'd say that you either have a leak in one or both of your rear shocks and/or air line going to them! Take some soapy water in a squirt bottle, get the shocks pumped up and then squirt the air bags sleeves with the soap solution to see if bubbles show up! More than likely you are needing new shocks and if you keep going like that where the compressor has to keep running to keep them aired up you will be needing a new compressor (that's what happened to me!)

Man, my compressor got delivered, but my shocks required a signature, so Im still waiting because I was away for a few. Once I get the package and get them installed I will report back.

Installed. The new compressor is VERY quiet in comparison to the one it replaced. It turns on when I start the engine, for a brief few seconds usually. I don't know how often it runs bc I don't think I can hear it in the cabin. Couldn't really test the handling of the new shocks yet bc it has been raining here, but now it cleared up so I can go have some fun.

Some pics of the old torn shocks and the new shocks/compressor:

Awesome man, it's gotta be nice to have everything working like it should!

It does! May I ask, how often does your compressor run? I'm trying to make sure there are no other leaks anywhere. Mine runs a few seconds on startup, and after driving for 20 min, I stopped at a store(left it running with people in the truck), and it ran for 20 seconds.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to just bite the bullet and do the same. maybe i'll do it when I lift the truck so it doesn't seem like i'm spending money on it LOL

Glad you got everything figured out.

Mine will run right after I start it for about 5-10 seconds and if I don't add any extra weight to the truck or load a trailer I very rarely hear it kick on! I did at first have a small leak that developed where the air dryer tank mounts on the compressor, I was getting a small leak around the O-ring that seals that fitting! I ended up getting some silicone lube on the O-ring and then reattached the tank so it would put more pressure at that seal to keep it from leaking! Might wanna check that spot as well as where your air lines hook up on the compressor as well as on the shock to ensure you aren't leaking anywhere!
