my reading is off by 20 degrees F higher upon cold start up it's reading 78F-82f when is barely 57F outside

how is the accuracy on yours? it did drop to 73F after a few miles of driving but stayed there

The air going into the motor can be considerably higher than the ambient temperature outside, especially if she's been idling or in traffic. Then I've also witnessed the air going into the motor a few degrees cooler than ambient at highway speeds too. Lots of variables at play.

cold start 20f higher

this could be why i have issues when it's cold

and when it's warm out everything is ok

the old problem has returned now that the temp dropped

i was checking mechanics data base about the IAT

parameters should be ± 10F

the response time is "very slow" as well.. considering it took a mile to go from 26C to 25C or about 1min and 30 seconds of air movement then worked its way down to 22C after the engine warmed up to 210f

also i was wondering if anyone can check their IAT on a cold start..

also BTW the temp on the mirror is correct 57F = 57 f outside (double checked on the phone to make sure it's correct)

that confirms it is faulty if mine is showing IAT 20 degrees higher on a cold [overnight off ]start...

The IAT is part of the MAF correct?

Not on my 2008... it's a separate sensor in the tube between the MAF and the TB.
