my 07 just turned 50k and now the "Service Airbag" message and light come on, sometimes for several miles other times not at all

I did run the batt down and had to put the charger/starter on it while installing a direct wired ******.

I scanned it, no codes and everything else appears normal.

Any experience here?

I had a problem with that on my 07. The dealer scan said it was the front right impact sensor. I bought the part and replaced it myself to save a few dollars. There are two sensors so you'll have to get it diagnosed to see which one.

thanks, any chance you have a pic of and or can point me in the right direction on location of those sensors, ie maybe it's just a loose/dirty connection?

Here is a diagram of the sensors. What I had to to was remove the plastic cover under the front of the engine like you are changing the oil. You should be able to see them under the front crossbar on the frame. They are mounted on with a bolt. Before you work on any of the airbag system you should search for how to disable it. I believe what you do is remove the batter cables and air bag fuse and wait at least 10 minutes. I've only done it once so you'll need to confirm that is all you need to do.

I took my car to the dealer for the same reason, I have an 07 LS. The day before I had vacuumed the whole car, so i moved both front seats back and forth as i was cleaning it. Underneath the front seats, there are cables, the dealer told me, that sometimes when cleaning the vehicle, you hit one of the cables, and it disconnects it, causing the abs message. They said it happens alot to Police tahoes, because they stick their flashlights on the side of the seat, and it hits the plugs, disconnecting them. I went through all the plugs, and made sure that all the plugs were pluged in. The message went out. So far so good
