Hey guys, I've got a 99 Yukon with a "prestige" brand alarm that was on it when I bought the truck. I only got one "clicker" and as far as I can tell it's a total POS alarm and I'd like to buy two new factory keyfobs and ditch the alarm. My question is, can I just program the new keyfobs and leave the alarm in place, or do I have to locate the brain and rip the whole thing out? The main problem is that there is only 1 button on the clicker that does anything, and I'd really like to have both a lock and unlock button instead of the do-all button on the prestige.

u can most likely just program even with the alrm, but if the alarm some how sets that won't be fun. just find the brain on the alram and unplug all of the plugs going to it. go thru the truck quickly to make sure everything still works and waalaa all gone. if u really feel up to it u can remove all the alarm harnesses , i have done this a few times and it is easy. most of the time all connections are just taped . u can untape, untwist, and re tape

i need to do this to my current security system as well. except mines half out, already ripped some shit out, but i have an ass load of huge relays hanging down, ill probably have to rip those down as well.

i was hoping the new security system would be close enough to the old one to where i wouldnt have to run allll the new wires and such.. havent gotten that far.

unknown at this time.
obtain an install manual for it and together with vehicle diagram reverse any interrupts that were wire in and cut the rest of the triggers and outputs. You should be back to normal after that.

i dont think you can reprogram that fob. if you buy a new alarm you're looking at a 2009+ model, i doubt the obs alarm will work with it.
