Kind of a strange question but are tire sizes universal between brands? For instance, I now have a 275/55/20 Nitto 420 but before that I was running a 275/55/20 Goodyear Eagle LS-2. Is there a chance that the 420's are slighly larger than the Goodyear's? The reason I ask is that since getting the 420's on they rub the fender wheels slightly (i'm at a 2/4 drop) where they didn't do that before with the GY's.

Just like buying shoes. They vary enough to test fit

Ugh....The wife is complaining that when it rubs (mostly only at full lock) it's "embarassing" because "everyone turns around and looks at her" when it happens. I told her just to moon 'em but apparently that wasn't a satisfactory solution. I really don't want to jack with my inner fender liner...

I had to cut inner fender liner way back, plus use an angel grinder (cutting wheel) on some of the inner metal parts.

lol!!! my wife said the same thing when i put the TBSS's on, they squeak on the inner fender at full lock. She said it was embarrassing and to fix it, so i went in the garage and put the car seats in my daily driver commuter (96 Honda Accord, its super clean though) went back inside, she asked what i did so i told her. she said no put them back in the Tahoe and i havent heard any complaining since. :favorites37:

every tire is slightly different, the toyo's/nitto's have more core/cord body going across the face of the tread giving them a much more squared off design than most, but that is what gives them nicer handling and ride too. it will probably only rub for a little while. or you can use a heat gun and mold the inner liners, it works ok.

 My wife would crap bricks if I moved the seats to my car and told her she was DDing my car :lol2: That's a great solution, though :)

So far I've ignored it and she's not said anything yet. I was kinda thinking the same thing that you are that it'll probably rub for a little while then go away. The tires only have 1000 miles on them at this point so they are very new with full tread. If it goes for much longer, though, and if she complains more I'll break the heat gun out. It's obvious where they are touching. I've told her not to steer to full lock to avoid it :)

no definatly not. 2 different brands can be the same size but the way they are molded can cause it to be different. Ill use my Motorcycle for instance. My m109r had a metzler 260 rear tire for some reason that tire was taller than a Dunlop 250 rear tire. that i recently changed to. The dunlop 250 is actually a little wider than the metzler. I guess what im trying to say is it all depends on the Brand, how it was molded and of course, the rim its mounted to can slightly change the tire some

also if its rubbin, give it time, It will eventually wear away, either the area thats rubbing or the tire itself as it wears tread away and walla.......no more rub
