I bought this from a guy on ls1gto and I went to have it installed today. After 30 minutes of waiting they called me to the back. They tell me everything is working fine except there is no audio. The guy doing the install showed me what he did to test it. He hooked the radio up and put a small speaker on two of the wires directly from the head unit and no sound was produced. he then took the ground wire and touched it the the case of the radio and it made the speaker react. He said that means there is a short within the radio.
I get home and email the guy who I bought the radio from and told him it did not work. He replied with "check the dip switches because he had them set different than normal". I finally found it and they were set to eq something. So I switched them back to normal but have no way to test it to see if that is the problem.
The reason I ask this question is because I drove 2 hours to a authorized alpine dealer/installer just to be sent home empty handed. I believe those dip switches are the problem but don't want to drive another 2 hours and find out it wasn't the problem. I have never seen a radio with those switches so I'm confused. I think the guy installing the radio should have known to check that to start with.
I would think the dip switches would turn the rcas off and not the regular speaker wires coming from the harness.
So if someone could verify that my problem is fixed I will take the trip again tomorrow.
