Today I had some time off so i decided to go in and clean all the terminals on my battery and grounds as I still havent been able to figure out my voltage drop. I decided to clean the Big three Wire from the Alt to Battery and i found this little strand of wiring going into the plug in area of the alternator.
I had never noticed before, but arent all chevrolet alternators supposed to be plugged in? Mine only has this little wire going into one of the male connectors.

Could this be a big part of wire i have a voltage drop when my amp is turned on or Ac and Lights are on at night?

Need a pic, but our alternators are self-regulating, I believe, so the small wire from the alternator probably just goes to the dummy light on the dash. But we need pics...

I will post pictures tomorrow morning.

Whenever I took out the little loose wire, my car would turn on and the voltage would stay at 10V.

My voltage gets to around 14.4 volts when on and drop immediately whenever i do anything, turn on the lights, AC, hit the power windows, amplifier turn on.

I got a new battery and upgraded the big three.
I was thinking its the alternator and was looking to get a new one or just have it rebuilt.

thanks for any input guys.

Here are some pics i was able to take this morning.[/ATTACH]

I watched a video on youtube on how uninstall an alt in this tahoe and that alternator also had a single wire going into the plug in, but it had an actual plug at the end of the wire, not just a little female connector
