i have an 04 Yukon xl Bose system and my buddy has an 03 Tahoe with Bose. I bypassed factory amp via the connector behind the little cubby to the right of the ventilation controls. Both of us aftermarket head units. It works but the sound quality is terrible. Is it because of the odd ohm loads the Bose speakers present in the system? I ask because another friend swapped some factory Bose speakers into a non Bose truck with an aftermarket hu and it’s sounds good. He’s not running the tweeters I imagine so that must help. I have had experience with oem 2ohm speakers not playing friendly but it took awhile for the headunits amp to warm up to where it would distort. This is from the second you turn it on.

most likely it is the ohm's, beating the bose sound from the factory amp just cost's more money in amp's, component crossovers & speakers. that being said some bose speakers are pretty close to 4ohm's like the aftermarket head unit expects and others are way off, you can pull out one of the door speakers and take a look at the back normally the ohm's are printed on them either in ink or a paper label. then again if you replaced the headunit with a cheapy walmart boss headunit or something like that don't expect much there is a reason why some headunits are dirt cheap.
what did you replace it with? and what is your goal in doing the swap?

As Doubeleive stated, many lower to mid quality amps won't work well, or at all, with a 2 ohm speaker, as they are not designed to power a speaker with that low of an impedance. When I replaced my Bose system, I replaced the entire system. The front door Bose speakers were stamped on the magnets with a 1.9 ohm specification.

I have a Jensen vx7022 double din dvd/nav. It’s adequate and the nav works good. I knew it was on the low end when I got it, though a major step up over the boss dvd system that was in it. I figured it was the ohms and the cheap integrated amp not playing well. My goal is to not have the fuzz and pop that the stock amp. It’s on it’s way out.
