Where is the best place to come through the firewall on my 98 Tahoe with the amp wires from the battery? I didn't notice the usual rubber boot like most vehicles have. thanks Shawn
i was literally about to ask the same question. and also can i run the 12v wire from the aux posts on the fuse block? it has a 30amp fuse on it so im thinking if i hook into thet, i wont need the extra in line fuse. i really dont want to drill a hole in the firewall if i dont have to
I think that I am going to go straight down from the battery and follow inside the frame and find somewhere towards the back of the cab to come back in. I'm putting 2 amps back there, just haven't had time yet. Just got back from a week in Edmonton, big fun up there for work.
mine went through on the passenger side firewall. just make sure to run your RCAs' on opposite sides of your power. Just plays it safe. In some cases it cause a humming noise like a bad ground due to the RCA wire picking up signal from the power wire.
i ended up drilling a hole right above the antenna wire and ran it along the fire wall to the AUX terminals on the fuse block. i cut a slit in the carpet to attach a ground to the body with a self tapping screw. something i noticed is that my subs will cut out if i have the radio over 16-18 depending on the song. i know my amp is way under powered for the speakers but would that cause the cutting out or should i get a giant capacitor or both?
I found a bare spot in firewall on passenger side and drilled hole and ran wire through with rubber grommet and followed door jams under trim to the back in my 99
