Wow these things are hard to find... I've been looking for the past year.

Yesterday I was looking around the Pick-A-Part and came across TWO 2000 Escalades. Both were 100% complete... However the interiors on both of them were ROUGH to say the least. There really wasn't much there to pick through. If anyone is interested in the other - it's at LKQ off Northville in North Houston! It's just missing the lock for the console lid but it could very well have been there in the mess somewhere.

I picked the better of the two consoles (which isn't saying much) and got the entire console (minus the rear cupholder) with the factory amp & sub for $20!
This was in when I got it... The lid is trashed - gonna drop that off this week to have reupholstered. The paint was peeling all over it.. And good God was this thing disgusting. I don't know how people let their vehicles get so nasty. I was grosed out sitting in that truck just to get this out.

First thing I did was take it apart and try to figure out the easiest way to strip the paint without hurting the plastic - so I tried my pressure washer. Had nearly every bit of the factory paint off in minutes!

After that I scrubbed everything with Dawn and left it to dry.

While that was going on, I stuck all the other disgusting parts in the dish washer.

Applied adhesion promotor and paint. I already had the promotor - but couldn't find the paint I wanted so I ended up with the cheap stuff O'Reilly's had. It is actually damn near identical in color. I'm very pleased how it turned out.

While that was drying, I played around with the factory Bose sub. Honestly I was planning on tossing it - but I hooked it to my amp and am VERY impressed how it sounds! So I ran a wire from my rear amp up to it and am gonna leave it hooked up!

So far this is as far as I've gotten. Not sure if I'll complete anymore tonight. I'd finish in the garage but it's a wreck with all the other projects I've got going on! I also snagged the factory fog switch I'm going to use when I wire up lights on my brush guard. I'm debating whether or not I should go grab the guages from one of them...

I'm gonna pick those up Friday, thanks for the pic.

Got it installed and the sub wired up. I painted the wood grain insert gloss black for now.. Not sure what I'm going to do with it in the future.
I'm going to drop the armrest off this week to have reupholstered.

When I pull everything back out for new carpet I have an inverter I'm going to put where the old Bose amp was - then put a couple of outlets where the rear radio controls are.

I did this same mod years ago and I loved it. The little sub is not bad either! Did you wire up the CD changer too?

Picked up the gauges Friday... As well as a few other goodies.

Tore the gauges apart and swapped in my odometer - also swapped out the gas gauge and oil pressure... The ones in the Escalade gauges were a little screwy.

I snagged the door trim thinking I would put it on mine - but doesn't look like the material comes off my doors as easy as the Escalade wood/leather came off. May turn into quite the project.

Added some accent lights to the cupholders also.

Hey do you still have that 2000 Escalade Rear Console panel? If so is it for sale?
