Ok here it goes. I have been reading everything I can find on the forums about upgrading the headlights. I went through every page in the forums for my model Yukon. I may have missed something, but it seams like (for good reason) that pnp hid kits are a big no no with the stock reflectors. The other thing I have read is most people that have used them say definitely get headlights from vanquish auto. I have talked with them and they swear their hid headlights which are pnp are special and work great with our stock reflectors. So which one is it? No pnp is any good, or only vanquish auto pnp hid is any good? I know that a retrofit is best and I am probably going to try the Midwest lighting retrofit headlights. Just wanting to know what the word is on this whole pnp vanquish auto light deal is. If it really is recommended as an option then I might consider them. Before reading people like them though I wouldn’t have thought pnp was an option.

While I can't comment directly about Vanquish's PnP kit I will say that some PnP kits are worse than others in the reflector housing. A better quality bulb will throw off much less scattered light then a cheapo PnP bulb.

I am running Morimoto bulbs in the low beams of my Burb and while it is not projector quality lighting it is much much better than the cheap EBay bulbs.

The difference being the positioning of the HID capsule in comparison to where the filament would be in the correct halogen bulb.

Most cheap bulbs are all the same with just the bases changed to fit the different housings.

I would eventually like to do a retro fit myself but it's a lot of money for something that isn't a necessity right now.

Agree with this guy ^

I would only run morimoto and maybe the led version. But really do a retro it’s the only way to go.

I have been running HID kits in the stock housing's in my old nbs and this nnbs for the last 13 years and never had one iota of trouble with the stock housing
I can't say the same for the fog lights, they will melt......
that is my .02 no sense in spending extra money on different housings when it is not necessary.
whoever is telling you different obviously did something wrong.
I also run them in my 03 Silverado and my ex wife's 04 suburban also no problems.

Buy Denali headlights, retrofit them in 30 minutes and have amazing results with a set of Morimoto projectors.

Anyone here who posts otherwise I'd be happy to compare output shots in comparison to their pnp kits

Thanks. BTW I am not questioning if a retrofit would give better results. I was just curious about what appeared to me to be a possible exception to the rule of doing a HID retrofit. Every post I could find regarding HID headlights say don't use them with the reflector headlights. With one exception. People seem to recommend Vanquish Auto headlights. VA claims that their HID PNP kit is good and works great with the reflectors housings. It also seems like a few people do have good luck with other PNP kits. I was surprised to find this information out. I am trying to get a list of things I want to upgrade on my Yukon. Not sure what will be first, but lighting is going to happen. I am thinking about adding a light bar for when I am at my parents farm. Not sure if that will happen before, or after headlights. Not sure when the radio is going to happen either but it is also on my list. My first purchases for the Yukon have all been towing related. This thing sets up about 6.5 inches higher than my acadia, or atleast the hitch does. I have spent about $500 for a drop down hitch and other accessories to pull our camper. These came first because I couldn't have pulled it without some of the stuff, and if when the weather gets nice, if it isn't ready to tow, I'll have a pissed off wife. I told her how much better this thing is going to pull our camper. if it doesn't or something held us up, you guys would likely never hear from me again because I would be dead. :)

Back to the topic...
VA has been very nice and answered all of my questions. I know they also have a trial period on thier stuff. I might try the HID kit and see if I like it. I have also been talking to Jeffrey at
http://www.midwestlight.biz/product-page/gmc-yukon-denali-retrofit-headlights

for that price, I could buy them and sell my factory for $100 and be $100 more then the PNP kit. What ever I get next though will have to wait for the weather to get a little better. I don't have a heated or even sheltered place to work on this stuff.

Thanks for the help guys!
