So if you know the ride height,(top mount to the bottom mount) what is the number that needs to be subtracted to get the proper shock length? I would want to go with the stud mount on the top.

I'm pretty sure you don't have to subtract anything if you using the stud mount. The 1.5 inch subtraction from your shock was if you were using the adaptor from stud to eyelet mount.

But his new lower mount moves the shock mount up, so the shock need to be shorter by the same amount. also if you use his upper mounting bracket it moves the mount lower so again, you need to subtract that amount. I'm sure Atomic will chime in and set us straight.

I guess what I need to know is how far up is the lower shock mount moved? Going by the pictures it looks to be 2" why I want to know is if I go this route, I can measure my setup as it is now, do the subtractions for the mounts and get the new length for the coil overs. I don't want to take things apart more times than I need too. I can order my shocks and springs and be very close the first time.

The lower bracket moves the shock up 1.75" and the top bracket moves the surface down about 1/2". So if you measure from the bottom to the top and use the stud mount subtract (1.75+.5=2.25") 2.25" from that number to give you your shock length. If you use the procomp shock adapter, that piece shortens the distance 1.5"

A guy on PT just finished doing this swap on his RCSB and this is what he had to say about it:

Well, first off, I need an alignment bad.

I think it's silly how good the front suspension is compared to the rear. I was playing with it off camber a bit, ramping over the bumps on the edge of my parents driveway. It just absorbs it. I can jump up and down on the front bumper and there's more travel than it's ever had. I think the liner way a coil spring works is better than the twisting way a torsion bar works.

Like I said, I need to get it aligned. When the ride height is exactly where I want it, I'll drill the lower a-arms and install some bumpstops. I can't really do that until I'm 100% sure the height is correct. I may need to trim the bumpstops I bought.

The sale im having ends on Tuesday!

Yes he does. McGaughy's drop spindles. Read his thread, unless he changed them out, but did not see a mention of it.

Thanks man. Looks like it would be a go for drop spindles. I wouldn't be to worried about the top bushing they make washer that cup them as well. Could use those instead of the flat fender washer which would work fine to. Have to let him get some miles on it and ask him how its holding up and feels.
