Hello everyone,
I am in the process of buying a truck from the Houston area and I need to get it to Chicago land. Because this a used truck with over 100k on the clock I am a little learly of making the almost 1230 mile trip. As a result, I have contacted DAS, I can take it to a depot they have in Houston and they will deliver it to a nearby depot they want to charge $811 for top deck and $768 for lower level. Is this reasonable? Has anyone used this company, if so what was your experience? Anyone have any no of any cheaper alternatives?
Thanks,
Radman.

Before i even clicked on this thread i was already thinking $800. The lowest ive heard was around $500 but that was for a probably under 800 miles or so. Ive never dealt with DAS but paying a little more might be worth it depending on their insurance agreements and also their reputation and how happy customers are with their service.
Maybe like a month ago i saw a driver from a no-name company trying to load a tundra onto the top level ramp amd completely missed getting the rear passenger wheel onto the ramp with about half dozen attempts until he bent the bumper from the ramp hitting it......not to make you nervous....

But, $700-$800 approx sounds right in the ballpark

Ive shipped boats and cars before, just search for cheapest in the area and MAKE SURE there licensed, insured and bonded. Or I would assume you are going to go out there to look at it before you buy it, if you do just rent a one way U-haul truck with car dolly and tow it back.

Yes, I am going to look at it. I had not considered U-haul, but it is something to think about. However, in the past when I rented from U-haul they were rather pricey, but I will look into it. Thanks:)

I cannot remember the company I shipped a car with (I know it wasnt DAS) but they loaded a durango w/ grill guard too close behind it.. so every bump they hit caused that grill gaurd to hit and chip the paint off the rear bumper... It was a PAIN in the ass to deal with because I caught it with the guy who delivered it, blah blah blah.. Long story short in the 2 years I owned it, it never got fixed so I passed it along to the next guy.. Dont think he ever got it resolved either.

Picked it up last weekend drove it from Houston to Chicagoland, no issues at all and saved a ton of money. Gas was $150bucks and my flight down was cheap to :)

That sounds reasonable, shipping from south end of the country to the north. Mine was about the same and about the same price. Don't cheap out..

it's a fair price. I paid $1400 for enclosed shipping from CA to MI when I bought a classic car.
