well people buy gift cards to pay the irs or gift wrap gold bars to give them for "safekeeping" so nothing surprises me anymore.....DOT mandated starting in '86 for cars and '94 for light trucks.
Not to be too harsh, but how can anyone not have noticed something that lights up in one's face in traffic and has been on nearly every new vehicle on the road for over three decades?

Its odd but curious as to why you have such information on hand to post lolCHMSL = center high-mounted stop lamp. Been required on most U.S. vehicles for a long time. Primary offense to not function.
