just looking for some pics of your tahoe with fiberglassed door speaker pods and kick panels, info on what and how u did it, Im wanting to do a set of kick panels for some 6.5 comps and I want to try and make custom door pods where the factory speaker door grilles are, I want to make a fiberglass pod that is a actual box, make it go all the way back to the door frame and stick out sum, out of the door panel and angle the 6.5 comps up, I dont want to mess with the door panels, I just want to use the grilles, also I plan to do the same for the rear doors, except they will be a set of 6x9s, do you think they would fit, the pod would probally stick out sum

There was a vendor on gmfs ( customspeakerpods) that had pods for our front doors that housed a 6.5"/4"/ and tweeter. He said that you can do any combo of anything just to let him know. I wanted to try and flush mount 6x9's in the rear doors and seemed to be more work than what it was worth. ( and got the 6.5"coaxials for free) From what i heard, its not that hard, just take your time with glassing the fronts.

I made some door pods for 8" midbass and used Q Logic kicks (2 layers of deadener and MDF on the back) for the 3" and 1". They sound excellent, but I will be doing these again to bring the sound stage a little higher. Midbass and midrange in the doors and the tweeters in the pillars. I have more pics of the process, but the pics in my build log should give you an idea of what I did. I am happy to answer any questions if you are interested.

Wow, looks niccee. Do They get kicked?

No. I keep the seats all the way back and I am 6'1" it's not really a problem getting kicked. Thats what the grills are for. lol

They sit pretty far back under the dash, too far back honestly to get the soundstage on the dash. Mine sits at the bottom of the radio right now. Not bad, but could be improved if I move the mids and tweeters up I think. Overall I am pleased, but OCD and I always think there is something better. lol

thats what I want to do, like your 8 inch pod, and like the custompod ones but i may have to alittle further out to actually make a box for them, cause I would think a box would make the mids sound alot better then just the doors, and I really dont want to have to deaden the doors, how much airspace do 6.5 speakers need

I was thinking of maybe using the stock grilles, by fliping them around, which would have to use the passanger grill on the driver side, and the driver on the passanger but I would use them as the back plate, just fiberglass around it, also I would have to bolt the pod down so I was thinking of boltin it to the metal in the door, so basically It wouldnt be attached to the actual panel anymore

Just depends on the driver. Most 6.5's will do better IB in the door then they would in a box.

You will want to attach your pod top the door especially if you are looking from any bass out of them.

If you go active you can fit a 7" driver in the door with a little work.
