Anybody using a short antenna?

I bought one and couldn't get the original off. When I tried to unscrew it, it just kept spinning no matter what I tried to secure. What am I doing wrong?

Were you holding it from inside the fender? I'm pretty you gotta hold the inside part.

At first I just tried from the outside. I thought it was designed so that it was reasonably easy to remove with just a crescent wrench for car washes and such. When it just spun, I went under the hood to find something else to hold onto, and eventually took it completely loose, but still couldn’t find anything to hold onto that stopped the antenna from spinning around.
