I have an '02 Suburban LT, I know it's the Tahoe section, but the doors are pretty similar. I'd like to get a little bit better sound. Has anyone ever modified the doors to fit 5x7's? My 6.5 Kenwoods (put in when my parents bought the car 10 years ago, haha) are getting drowned out by my sub.

Some info about my 'Burban. 2002 LT, 2500, Pewter Metallic, tan/grey heated leather, almost every option but the sunroof. So far, I put a new JVC HU in it, installed two amps, a Diamond D3 800.1 with a Diamond D3 12D4 Dual 4-Ohm Sub (This thing hits HARD), a Diamond D3 400.4 behind the 4 speakers, and a Monster 1 Farad Cap. My neighbors hate me. I also ran all new 14 guage speaker wire, I don't understand why people pay tons of money for amps and speakers, and then want to use the factory wire.

Another thing, which I was wondering, one of my friends has an '02 Tahoe, which is a LS, and didn't have the tape player, so he has a slot there instead, can I put the slot in where my tape player is? Do they sell the slot, or do I need to go to a salvage yard?

my tape player slot i modified to fit my VCM and Clarion eq.
as for 5x7's just go with a better set of 6.5's in all doors, perhaps pro audio since you have a sub already.
if you dont mind a little fabrication put 8's in your doors...

I was thinking some Infinity Kappa's. That's what I put in my '02 Trailblazer LTZ, they sounded pretty clean.

Got 5x7's in, they fit pretty well. Stayed with the Diamond D3 line, put in a pair of D3 373i's. Really like them.
