I want to have two tone leather on the front two seats, but the lowest quote I've received is $650 when I can get all new upholstery for $900. So I am wondering if anyone has ever dyed their seats or knows anyone that has.

dying seats

Blacqout,
I have a 97 Eldorado I just did alot to ..
www.leatherworldtech.com can supply what ever you need . Works great !
Very easy to use...like painting ,needs multiple coats..long strokes to blend nicely .
Good luck !

Let us know how it goes...I've always wanted gray or red inserts on my black seats. :D

I might take mine to an upholstery shop to get a quote while I'm at it. What did your $650 quote include, the entire seat or just the middle insert?

Z71 Girl - Thanks that's exactly what I needed to know!

zach2011 - That quote was for both, one vendor said he would charge that just to cut and sew the existing leather and one said that would be the cost for new seat covers. On eBay you can order 2 tone leather covers for $850 for the whole vehicle from Katzkin, but you have to install them. The $650 included installation.

I'd really like to order my own custom ones from Katzkin. I'd love to have black with red inserts and matching red piping. Then put red interior LED's, dash buttons, and gauge face. :D

If only I had several thousands of $ to invest in a custom interior...

BTW if you go with that dyeing route, I'd love to see some end-result pictures. What kind of look are you going for?

Well, I bought some universal headrest monitors and the pillows are darker than my interior, but since the door panels and dash are two tone it still looks good to me. I just figured if I could make my inserts dark gray it would be even better.

Neat idea. It would be great to see how well this goes; is Tahoe/Yukon leather aniline? I don't know what that means but that site says aniline leather can only be dyed darker. Which is good for your case and not so good for mine! I may have to just get inserts made.

Actually, I think I'm gonna go for this dyeing process. I read up on it and it sounds like a project my dad and I could tackle, it just needs a lot of prep work.

If I do it, I'm putting Victory Red on my seats so they'll be black and red to match my school colors. It will be in the middle of the seats, just like the Z71's.
