I've been toying with the idea and trying to figure out the best way to do it and thought i would ask and see if anyone has. I know that i saw one up on the console but i wanted it to be in the back somehow. It's just a 400watt B&D power inverter JUST like the one in this tutorial.

There are some good ideas here. I was first thinking about putting it right next to the 12v plug in the back but thinking it might be easier to mount it somewhere in the jack compartment since there is tons of room so i can get to it if need be. Anyone done this?

I did this in my '03 Sierra right before I sold it, but took it out before selling it. What I did was gutted the inside of a cigarette lighter power inverter I bought at Autozone, chopped the cigarette lighter adapter off, and wired it to the battery. I then made a custom plate the size of the Rear Seat Audio controls and mounted the 120v outlets to the panel so they were where the RSA's would have been (my truck came with a jump seat and I pulled it in favor of a console so didn't need the RSA module). I screwed the inverter parts to the inside of the console on a custom bracket about where the Bose amp would have been. The inverter came with its own fuse and switch and so I left the 20A fuse as it was and mounted the switch on the panel between the outlets. Everything worked great - never had any issues with it. When the truck was running I could plug in an extension cord and run a circular saw off of it. Anything more (like two circ saws) would blow the fuse. I could also drive around charging drill batteries which was nice. In my setup you had to make sure you either unplugged everything or flipped the inverter switch off at night or you'd wake up with a dead battery. About the time I sold it, I was thinking of hardwiring the switch to the SEO Ign fuse to avoid this problem. In hindsight, maybe it would have been better to wire it to the alternator rather than the battery as well.
