I am installing a CB in my Yukon and was wondering if anyone is also running one? if they are running the antenna on the roof? if so how did they run the coax cable?

thank you Keith

Keith, I have used a Wilson 1000 magnetic mount antenna and a Uniden HR-2510 and had good results. I have ordered stuff from Copper Electronics.

www.copper.com

A Cobra 29 LX is a nice radio.

A Wilson 1000 is a great antenna.

You are going to spend about $200.00

there is another gentleman on here that did made a good set of instructions on how he did his, and I did mine very similar.

We both used this:
http://www.rightchannelradios.com/c...products/chevy-silverado-hood-mount-2007-2010

I'm running a 4' firestick with the spring.

He mounted his on the Front left, I mounted mine on the front right. It bolts right under neath the filler panel between the hood and windshield. Just pop out the existing bolt.

and routed the coax from the fender through the door wire harness grommet and under the dash. We both ran the power to the radio with an "add a fuse" that goes to the left side fuse panel.

Reception is pretty good and 3/4 of the antenna is over the roof. this is a pretty clean and easy install. For pictures, use the search and find the other guy who did it.

That is the Firestick SS-174 Mount, I have one and I could not get it to look right on my 09 Tahoe Z56 PPV. I ended up making my own mount for the right side fender and used a base loaded antenna.

I am running a fire stick as well but I have a aftermarket roof rack and I am trying to mount it to that. But I am a trying to run the coax cable to it without drilling a hole in my roof.

dont mess with them much any more but me and my father messed around with them alot when i was younger
we always mounted the antenna to either the bumper or on the hood opposite of the radio antenna mounting them on the roof i alwasys thought was a bad idea becuase they would hit everything if you gotr a long whip antenna bumper mounts gives you more clearence

I installed a Wilson 5000 roof mount on my Chevy Tahoe. I had to remove all the seats and all the plastic trim around the sides and all the seat belts and I had to remove the headliner. then I ran the coax cable along the top of the roof with duct tape to hold it in place to the front corner pillar by the windshield. I ran it down the front pillar behind the dashboard and then I put all the parts back inside the truck. I had to gut the whole interior of my truck to install that antenna but the results were totally worth it because I can usually talk 80 miles in all directions.

If you are mounting to the roof rack on your Tahoe, you can run the cable towards the back and come down behind the plastic trim above the tail light. Then drill a 3/4 inch hole and use split loom to protect the coax.
You have to also make sure you have a good ground so the antenna will have a good VSWR. You may want to take your truck to a CB shop at a truck stop to have your antenna tuned.
