Anyone try the Shift Technology 6L80E Sure-Cool? Basically, full-time trans cooler. I’m thinking for $40, it’s not a bad thing to add. Looks like a super simple install. Please share your thoughts.

Seems like it accomplishes the same thing as just removing the thermostat plunger and spring all together.
Then you'll just get full time flow rather than it opening for flow at 185 degrees.

I say this as someone who did the plunger and spring removal today in about 15 minutes.

EDIT: video of someone doing it here for reference.

EDIT AGAIN:
I have put the plunger back in, just backwards so it forces the fluid to circulate at all times.

Thanks. Any downside to removing the plunger and spring?

Thank you much. I’ll get mine on my buddy’s lift next weekend and do the same. I tow my vette with my Tahoe a few times a year, I can use all the cooling I can get.

I decided to order the kit. It’s only $42 shipped, with new o rings. Not a big investment.

Do not remove the plunger, flip it. If removed the fluid will not be forced to the transmission cooler unless you plug the passage way. If you don't you will defeat the purpose of the job.
Ah this is good to know. Sounds like I'll be climbing back underneath and putting it back in flipped next weekend.
I hadn't read that on here or elsewhere before..but it makes sense now that you've said it.
Sorry for the misinformation LT1ZOB!

Not a problem Sir. That’s why I love these forums. It’s a great way to share ideas and hear thoughts from others.

I removed mine and tapped it and put a bolt in, permanent fix, doing the bypass alone drops the trans temp about 15 deg
I then added a tru cool 40k and a B&M deep pan. doing this drops the temps about 40 deg
disabling the shutters with a tune keeps it that way.
results will vary depending on how you drive, I tend to drive very aggressively so things (everything) gets heated up.
