I've created multiple test MP3 CDs for my 2016 yukon xl. What I'm trying to sort out, I can't seem to get the radio to display the embedded album cover from the file playing.

On my USB drive, it works perfectly. But an MP3 on CD as a data CD, it won't display the artwork. It does display the META data for artist, title, album correctly.

The files from the usb and cd are the same source MP3 file, so it is not in the embedding.

I am using cdburnerxp to create the data disc on a CDR.

Does anyone do this and if so, what is the trick? I don't see any options that would handle the image aspect.

Anyone have any thoughts or input?

Thank you.

Wish I had a cd player to test it out for you.

Just out of curiosity, if it is working with MP3 on a USB, why bother with the cds?

Yes, it is working correctly with the USB stick.

The reason is that the wife has a 2008 saturn vue that reads MP3s and she has me make discs of her favorite songs. So when that disc arrives in the Yukon and I play it when she is in it, everything but the art shows up.....the "music icon" where the cover would go is present, almost like it is waiting for it to show, but doesn't.

So it's really all the wife's fault I have to inquire about this....I gave up physical media long ago, but still need to support it for the wife mobile to Yukon transfer.

LOL...... :)

And have her take up space on my drive......oh hell no.....LOL.

I am reading on multiple sites that as a data disc, it should be picking it up (MyLink sites). Technically it is reading and decoding an MP3 just like the USB stick, so I'm just wondering if I am mastering it wrong or maybe my software sucks when it transfers it?

If it takes something like Nero or whatever, I'll use that, but it would be nice to know if someone else had any luck before I try to waste a bunch of time when the answer may be already known.

The wife knows how to spar....the disc goes in the drive....I lose.....so best for me to figure it out to solve my issue.

Why not just make a "wife's Yukon drive" and keep it in the truck for her?

I've got three separate USB drives, one with HER music, one with music that we both commonly agree on, then I have one with MY music.

She's into 2000 and up country, and older hair bands (Cinderella, White Lion, Whitesnake, and her fav of all time, Bon Jovi) - 16gb drive for her, she has a radio in her truck that also plays USB drives. I grew up in the same hair metal era, so that is on the "mutually listened to" drive - another 16gb drive.

MY 32gb drive has Alice in Chains, Avenged Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Black Label Society, Breaking Benjamin, Dangerous Toys, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Foo Fighters, G n R, Halestorm, Ice Cube, Iron Maiden, House of Pain, Jackyl, Living Colour, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, Crue, My Darkest Days, NWA, Outkast, Public Enemy, Pretty Maids, Queensryche, Rage Against the Machine, Seether, Sixx AM, Slipknot, Stone Sour, Steve Vai, Tenacious D, Tech N9ne, The Verve Pipe, Theory of a Deadman, Tora Tora, Tommy Lee, Tremonti, Ugly Kid Joe, Suicide Squad Soundtrack, Velvet Revolver...... and a whole bunch 'o shit more. I think I have something like 7900 songs on it, almost all at 144hz sampling rate. I pretty much dare anyone to be able to tell the difference between a 144hz rate and "lossless" 320hz, especially at volume.

Good plan, but...
