Anyone use the engine block heater

So ran my vin and found my truck came with a block heater. Traced down the hidden wire and viola. Looks like its never been plugged in.
Can you share how and experiences using the block heater on a 6.2.

Not needed in many cases, maybe Alaska......I have been in unstate NY when its 0 degrees with -20 winchills and it didnt skip a beat!

I read it will help with the piston slap and transmission on take off.

The only time I ever had a hard start when I lived in upstate NY was when it was -40 with a windchill of -60. Truck hesitated for a second then fired right up. It's not necessary unless you're in very extreme colds. It will however help with the heating the inside of the vehicle faster because the block is already warm

In extreme cold it necessary as the engine oil will be like glue and it will take a long time to get proper lubrication. Again not needed in most states!
