Arcing around the coil pack.

Ok so i was working on getting the new alternator installed today, got everything put in started it up and i hear this arcing. My coil pack wire (from the cap) is arcing to the filler neck to the transmisson. It also arcs around the coil pack down near the mounting bracket. Its very humid and wet here right now, i heard that affects a cracked coil pack.


Anyone have any ideas?

yep....replace, causing a miss, loss in performance/power.

there was a miss on #3, changed cap and rotor/wires and that fixed it (at least so the SES light isnt on) but i noticed the arcing. I guess i'll pull that coil pack off. anyone got any videos or write ups on it?

Make sure you slap on plenty of Dielectric grease..........

I just replaced my spark plugs, plug wires, Cap & rotor....I hear some arching somewhere and it's got a miss. What's up with the Dielectric grease?

I'm pretty sure hes talking about making sure that you use dielectric grease on all of the connections to the coil pack.

Oh, ok, my problem was just that one of the plug wires came off. Just had to push it down little harder. Glad I don't have to take them off and grease them with anything

most new sets of plug wires come greased.
