Are DRL's and turn signals interchangeable?

The answer is in the picture, I know. But I just want to make sure with anyone who knows this...

DRL is 4157K and turn signal is 3157A. I want to use the entire bottom lamp as a turn signal so I need a 4157 in Amber, which I cannot find.

So I was wondering if instead I could plug in an amber 3157, just like in the turn signal?

Technically yes you can. However you will only have a single brightness due to the harness and plug in the drl. If you swap the plug and wire it into your turn signal wires then yes it will work. I believe the parts stores sell that plug with wire pigtails that you could use.

You're saying it's best if I swap the DRL harness with a turn signal harness?

Now that I think about I had to do that anyways since the DRL harness will go to the top lamp on the headlights I want.

I'll have to piggyback an additional turn signal harness onto the existing one. May that be a problem?

Yes I am saying to splice a turn signal harness into your existing harness for them to work properly as a turn signal.

That harness will most likely fit in the DRL socket, right?

It should. Just try fitting your current signal socket into the drl portion of the lens. I'm pretty sure it will fit
