New to these forums. Came here from another forum which was cluttered with ads and a ghost town in terms of user activity.

I'm currently looking for a loaded 2007-2008 Escalade (Black/AWD/Navigation) and the used prices seem to be about $5-10K higher than they were over 10 months ago when I looked initially. About 10 months ago, I had no problem finding a loaded, decent mileage (around 60K) Escalade for around $30K. Unfortunately I was in the market for a different car instead. Figured I'd wait till Summer to get an Escalade, the prices can only go down as these things get older and used more? :doh2:

Right now, it seems the used market for the same year and mileage is up between $36-44K (even the base RWD models). I found one locally for around $31K but it had 85K miles on it and the interior was trashed. They are obviously selling because I'm seeing the ads drop off the dealer sites. My question is, is it common for GM dealerships to increase their prices this much during the Summer or are these vehicles just retaining their value significantly better than they were a year ago?

Any insight would be appreciated.

I've noticed that in my area as well...I think it has more to do with gas prices not going up as much as many people were anticipating. I remember a couple months back all of the talk was about hitting $5/gallon but it didn't even come close to that. So I think demand might be back a bit in the secondary market and hence the higher prices at retail.

When I bought my Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon last November I check in to see what they'd give me for my 2001 Denali...they offered like 5k. Same dealership a month ago while buying my girlfriend a Grand Cherokee Overland offered me 8k for the same truck.

Here's one I just found doing a quick search. I bouhgt mine from these guys, great cars, they will take care of you. They will sell it to you for about $200 - $700 less than the price listed, so in this case about $33,500. Ask for Phil, he was my person. They took care over everything. I would buy from them again. They are the largest seller on ebay. They sell over 2000 cars a month.

they also have a daily watch list, you put in what you are looking for and they eamil each day what they have that matches what you are looking for.

And yes, used care prices have gone up.
