That is because most dealership techs are computer operators who can change the parts on your vehicle only after the computer tells them which parts are bad. If you are not doing cookie cutter tech things they have no clue on how to do it. I had that issue with mine until I finally got the answers the tech needed for him to do the updates on my headlights. All he had to do was contact GM with my VIN number and request a re-flash program to turn the automatic headlights and daytime driving lights back on. (I also found out that they can NOT turn the speed governor off without a written letter from the Police Department on official letterhead requesting the change and they have to explain WHY they need it turned off so that GM is not liable if the Police Department has issues when the vehicle exceeds the 99MPH that the governor is factory set at on the SSV.) Then GM charges the dealership $50 for the re-flash and then sends the new program to the tech to install in your vehicle. It is an easy operation but getting someone to understand what you want and how they can help you is another story all together. LOL!You got a good dealership! I talked to two about BCM programming, all I got was blank stares and un-returned phone calls.
