So my wife called me last week and said taht the little "speaker" above her head was making all kinds of noise. She "smacked it" pretty hard, and it quit making noise.

I hopped in the truck this weekend and the HVAC seems to be "stuck" on full cold. If I use the "auto" function then regardless of the temp inside the truck it turns the fan all the way up, and blows out exceptionally cold air. I even turned the temp selection all the way up to 90* and it still will only blow cold air, direct air out of the panel vents, and run the fan all the way to high.

From the research I've done so far today, it seems taht the small "speaker" above the driver is really a temperature sensor for the climate control system. Since it was making noise, then got smacked, and is no longer making noise I have a feeling it has failed, and is causing the HVAC to act goofy. I however can't seem to find any information on a part name or number to cross reference. Where can I find one of these things?

Thanks in advance!

holy shiiit 2kwik...fancy seeing u here. its me, 2006starcraft from the boat forum...we just bought an 05 yukon XL so im over here too now.

ur right from what ive read so far its a sensor with a fan that draws air over the sensor. try pulling the headliner down and seeing if the fan is fixable....alot of people say they can spray a can of compressed air in there and clean it off to make it work again...of course, thats not when their wife hits it....

Whats up man?!?!?

Yea, I'm pretty certain the unit is just fubarred. Was hoping to find a place to purchase a replacement without making a trip to the stealership. Guess I'm just going to have to make a stop by on my lunch break tomorrow. Oh well, not a big deal I suppose.

Wife tells me the passenger side window won't go up/down at this point either. I'm beginning to wonder if I should just say the hell with it and trade it in, or continue down the list of things to be fixed. Shocks and tires are on that list, as well as some other odds/ends that have been hanging out there for the last few months.

That little speaker is actually a motor. Check this out, hope it helps- http://tahoeyukonforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19531&highlight=temp+sensor .
And your window problem- the window regulator has been known to go out. It's an easy fix. The hardest part is getting the door panel off. I found a window regulator at an auto parts store(Oreilly's) for $100 with a limited lifetime warranty.

Yeap, I turned up the same threads when I searched earlier. I'm guessing I'm just gonna head to the stealership to get the replacement. I'm convinced that the truck thinks the inside air temp is 2,000,000 degrees!!! I tried it again this afternoon after work, even after running for the better part of 20 minutes, with the temp set to 90, it was blowing frigid cold air at full blast out of the vents.

I've replaced a couple of window motors in the past, so I'm not terribly afraid of that, just a matter of finding one, and making the swap. Thanks for the tip on getting one with a warranty from O'Reilley!
