So after my autoride compressor died again I was considering the Arnott spring retrofit kit but then had the thought: Do I HAVE to use the compressor?
My 2005 Yukon Denali is used primarily as a tow vehicle for our 27' travel trailer getting about 10k miles/year use. Why couldn't I just make an adapter for the main airline and use compressed air to level the ride like regular air shocks? Pump it up when trailering, let it out when not.

You could absolutely do that. The only reason for the stock junk is it's auto-leveling, eliminating the work for the masses of lazy people.

you can get a portable air unit from costco. You can install airlift helper bags inside oem springs and be done with it.

So you know the airlift helper bags do a better job of towing inside the stock springs vs the little autoride bags that are on those shocks.

Thanks for the help.
Did not know that helper bags will do a better job for trailering, but my shocks are only 2 years old too. The Dutch in me prevents me from tossing them out if they still work; and they did do a pretty good job summer before last on a trip from Michigan to Grand Canyon and back.

No prob. There are a few guys that do that when the autoride goes out. Only thing sone dont like is manual fill unless you get compressor system.
