autoride to shocks

Been thinking about switching my autoride to shocks and I know I saw a post on here somewhere once and can't find it. So my question is what shocks would you guys recommend? Or can someone help me find the post?

I tried to find it and failed as well. I dumped autoride a few years ago and replaced it with billstein 5100 shocks. You could also use the 4600`s, A bunch of people here have used both and like them. I could not be happier with them. I have a regular yukon and just left the stock springs in there with no problems towing or loading the back of the truck but since you have an XL you may want to replace the springs with Z71 springs due to the extra weight especially if you tow or haul a lot of stuff. You could also go with a set of air bags that fit inside the coil springs to compensate.

I bought the resistors to turn the service ride control message but decided that it`s just easier to hit the button on the steering wheel to make the message disappear upon startup rather than cut up the wiring.

I went with standard GM shocks off a non autoride. Here is what you need to delete the error messages:

Ok thanks guys. Been tossing around the idea of putting a lift on. So I wasn't sure on what shocks to go with. Now I just need to find one for my 3/4 ton burb with the 8.1.

Your burb doesn't use air shocks like the tahoe or 1500 burb, so you are just replacing the electronically controlled shocks and sensors with a standard shock. You can use the resistor trick for the sensors, or have the BCM reprogrammed to remove the Autoride options. I am probably going to use the 5100 Bilsteins when I need to replace mine.
