I am looking for a diagram for the back up camera.
I want the monitor to turn on when the car is on, but in reverse.
In other words, not when the car is off and the perimeter lighting comes on.
So I believe I would need a relay.

Thanks!

Does this seem right for the monitor?

Mine comes on when in reverse automatically, and i can also turn it on when i want while driving.

I got power from the reverse signal under the drivers side, i have a post about it somewhere, omar helped me. Its in the panel that you unscrew by the brake pedal. But i have aftermarket radio also.

(i'll see if i can find the post)

Scroll through it and towards bottom of 1st page i ask about the rear view. ( not sure if this helps you or not,) any questions ask away.

Si vous avez des questions concernant le mien, il suffit de demander et je vais essayer de vous aider du mieux que je peux. Mais en anglais. ha, ha

I'd love to help but I'm horrible with relays, lol. My contribution will be that it looks good to me.

Okay, finally going to wire in my reverse camera, and move the ground while i'm at it. I've been putting it off for too long. Tahoewhat Is the camera getting constant power? From your post it sounds like you got a wire that is only powered at reverse, in order to use the camera anytime doesn't have to be constantly powered? I know the head unit needs to go to the reverse powered wire in order to know to switch screens, but where does the camera get power?

Yes mine has constant power also, so if im driving and want to see behind me i can push a option on my radio and see behind me, but only if i want to. When i put it in reverse it automatically goes to reverse screen. I just wired the constant to the headunit, that way if the radio off, the camera is off. Off memory, to have it go to the reverse screen auto when in reverse, that is where it gets power, i used a wire below the dash. I think its in the link i posted above to which one i used. For constant power, i honestly cant remember at the moment. But using that link i posted, if you tap into that for power the camera will get power when in reverse only. If you want constant, i'll have to look and see what i did for sure. But i do know its a wire to the radio, the constant wire.

What if I spliced into the blue remote wire to my amp? That would have power at the same times you are talking about. Or would that mess with the amp?

Okay, I hooked everything up today and it worked okay after the first time I started it, but since then the camera stays on the entire time and I can't change sources on the head unit or use any buttons. My only thought is that I spliced into the wrong wire on the BCM but I checked it with a volt meter.

Sorry got busy.

But i think that may be what i spliced into, but thats not constant power, only when the trucks on, but that works for always having power.

If you hooked it up that way its going to have power the whole time. If you did use the remote wire. Since its on all the time, then i think you may hooked up the wrong bcm wire. did you use the one i did in my link. You only want it to power when using reverse. Try that first, only hooking it up to the reverse signal. if that works then go in and hook up to remote wire. See how that works. I really cant remember what i hooked my up to. I'll see if i can get riveira racing in here, he helped me figure it out.

Figured out what happened, first, my splice never got through the insulation of the gray wire so I fixed that. Also, Saturday while I was messing with settings trying to make it work, I set camera polarity on the head unit to ground instead of battery which I guess means if the ground is good the head unit switches to camera input. I ended up completely disconnecting everything then unplugging the battery to reset the head unit, now it works like a charm.

Now I'm thinking about integrating a camera into my 3rd brake light with a narrower angle lens so I can monitor the contents of my trailer/boat while going down the road and install a switch on the input line so I can toggle back and forth. Anyone else seen this done?
