unknown at this time.
when you fold up and forward the seat bottom it pulls on a cable that runs thru the frame leg front to back that would unlock the seat back. Sorry man, one more cable to go.

it probably has a little slack in it.

Sunlitcomet you're a god, finally got this all done, and its now two in the morning.

P.S. Portland is a great place to live, if you end up working here we should meet up or something.

Same thing happend to me and I replaced that steel cable under the seat...

This happened to my Yukon the other day. How difficult is it to replace the cable under the seat? Do you know the part number to get a new one?
Thanks, Ron

Replacing it shouldn't be too hard. If you can get it out that is. I messed up my large getting out so I just cut out the piece of metal the seat latches to. If you can get it out though you should just be able to unhook one cable and thread the new one.

Thanks for the response.
Looking closer I can confirm the cable snapped. It looks like same type of cable that is used for a bike break. I assume I can unbolt the seat from the floor and rock it forward to get to the cable and latch?
Thanks, Ron

Ron,

Yes, there are 2 bolts on either end of the seat. Then just lift the front of the seat up as high as you can and it should either slip off the latch or you should be able to see the latch to manually release it. Instead of replacing the cable I just used a hacksaw and cut off the piece it latches to. Saved me a bunch of time and the seat stays fine as it is.

PS one thing to be careful with is the plastic piece with a wire on the passenger side. This has to be put back on the bolt right or else the top part wont fold down. (Props to sunlitcomet)

Following up on my outcome in case anyone else has the same problem down the road.

I have been confused by some of the comments on how to fix my issues and I have finally realized there are two latches and two cables on each seat. It sounds like most people are having issues with the latch that allows the bottom of the seat to lift. My issue was with the cable to unlatch the back of the seat so it can be folded down.

I fixed mine yesterday. I rocked forward the bottom section of the seat and removed the six bolts and removed the seat. The seat was the 60% seat. From there I could remove and replace the cable that goes under the leg of the seat to the latch. It was very easy to replace.

I got a new cable from my GMC deal for just over $50. It is part number is 12382372.

TThanks for everyone’s help.

Ron

Glad to hear they have a replacement cable. I'm going to try and build my own to save money but at least I'll have a reference. I just got my seat to fold down as we speak. I had mine snap off at the front so I had wire sticking out. I used locking pliers and a pry bar to pull on the cable.

Hey Sunlit, I am unable to see that picture, do you still have it please ? I have the same problem with my 60 (left) side, the strap clicks very slightly, when pulling, but no give.
