backup camera display

I'm getting factory navigation installed this friday in my Tahoe LT and I need to decide where my backup camera display should go. I currently have it in the mirror and like it there for ease of use but wonder if the NAV display would be better because of the larger screen ( more detailed ). I asked if I could have it in both places but the dealership said the display would be compromised.
Does anyone have any comments/opinions/recommendations?

I really have no idea but I doubt it will work on both unless you splice into the wiring harness. I really doubt an authorized factory service technician would do that at the dealership.

I have the bose stereo without nav and was thinking about adding the factory nav head unit with backup camera too. How much is that supposed to cost? (parts and labor)

I am about to add an amp and subwoofer to my system too by splicing into the stock sub wires. If I went with the nav head unit, that shouldn't effect the aftermarket sub installation, right?

btw, I am a new Tahoe owner and have been looking at threads on this forum for a couple months. I just signed up and this is my first post!

Yes it will work, I have it done on my 2012 Silverado. THe ONLY thing I notice is the nav screen is a little too dim for my taste.

In my avalanche I put in the factory nav and got a gmx-550 Lockpick which unlocks nav/DVD and also adds the option to add an aftermarket rear cam which I got installed.

I assume you already have the Nav unit and factory camera?? My truck only had the back up camera and the mirror display and I added the 2012 factory Nav. My nav unit came with the harness for the camera input and also had it programmed to activate the rear camera on the Nav unit. I just tapped into the camera signal wires that are at the driverside kick panel area for my setup with the mirror display. Check out this thread for which wires you need to tap into. All you need is the Nav unit (I am talking factory) and the harness that supplies the video signal to the nav unit, and or the mirror with the display and tap into the video signal wires, and I assume power for the mirror display as well.

AaronIROCX was the harness you tapped into in the same place as in the gm-trucks.com link? I have a 2013 Yukon and I can't find that harness.
