I was told that I might have a bad ground in my main wiring harness. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

I have a 2002 Chevy Tahoe LT which is on the fritz. I went to leave for work the other day and my gauge cluster only had the voltage and oil pressure gauge working. The digital read out was out. I proceeded to drive to the local parts store to have them pull the code that was on the dash bezel. They informed me that with cigerette fuse under the hood was out. I replaced it and everything went back to normal. About two weeks later the same thing happend except for the cigerette fuse was not blown. I went ahead and checked every fuse under the hood and on the side of the doors. They were all good. My tahoe is driving like the transmission is going out everytime this happens. One moment everything is good and the other everything goes out and im back in the same boat again. Can someone please help me out. I am wore out from this problem. Any advise will be greatly appreciated. I was told by someone that they though it was a bad ground in their main wiring harness. Someone please help me out. this is drivning me crazy.

Sometimes it is tough to find a tech that can and will go through a schematic and find the problem. It sounds like that is what it is going to take, unless you want to find the wiring schematic and get a voltmeter. Call around your home town and find who the good electrical guy is, he may not be cheap, but when he only charges you a couple hours rather than paying Bubba two days, there will be savings.

Good luck

Fixed

The problem was a fuse on the side panel on the inside of the drivers door. Someone who had the tahoe before me had tried to force a wire and a fuse into the same inlet. This in turn caused my ignition switch to go bad. So once they fixed that everything was good except for the $400 dollar bill that went with it.
