Bad idle below 30 deg F.

This is kind of wierd. 2001 Yukon, 62K, 5.3L. Only engine mod is ebay CAI. When it gets below 30, it will barely idle for about 10 min until it warms up. Today I went out it was 8 deg. Even after it warmed up it was still stumbling. It threw a code for right bank O2 sensor. It did this a couple of times last winter, but it never lasted more than a day. It always cleared itself and never ran this shittae. It did this last week when it was COLD, then cleared again when it was in the mid 30's. Any ideas? BTW it has 3/4 tank of gas in case anyone was wondering!!

When did you get an oil change last?
Sure your oil levels are ok, my bros car did something similar due to an oil issue?

Could be something as an air leak, either in the intake manifold or possibly the connections on the CAI (they do sometimes loosen up), try spraying some carb cleaner around the connections on the CAI and also around the intake manifold, if the idle changes that is probably the problem stop!

Have someone with a scanner such as autotap see what your IAC (idle air control) counts are. Sounds like its stuck or maxed out due to vacuum leak or incorrectly adjusted TPS. Have you played with the throttle stop ever?

Clean your throttle body and run some fuel system cleaner. Also check your egr fittings (the tube off the passenger side exhaust manifold that runs up to teh intake).

I've had this problem for a long time and I guess I assumed it was the severe cold temperatures, so I let it run for a couple minutes before I go anywehere. Sounds like this is a problem that needs to be fixed

Yeah, I've noticed since I post a similar post that mine doesn't do it unless it's below freezing.

Mine did the same thing. sounded like it had a cam in it until it warmed up. turned out to be an air leak in the intake manifold.

did you replace the gaskets to fix it? mines doin the same too
