Need some advice for you experts. Here is my situation. I have a 07 Tahoe LTZ with approx. 111k on it, pretty stock expect AirRaid CAI, 22" wheels/tires and a Managflow muffler. My truck is well maintaned and has had ZERO issues (mechanical, electrical etc).
Last month, we had a nasty ice storm in Dallas and my rear end went out (G80 locker). It sounded like a box of rocks was in the rear end. As soon as it happened I stopped driving and had it towed to the closest shop. Apparently the carrier bearings on one side exploded and ruined the ring and pinion and the locker (I took pics). I was told the whole thing needed to be replaced - to the tune of $3500. The shop had it 3 weeks (plus a week while I was on vaca). When I went to pick it up last Thur, about 1 1/2 miles after leaving the shop I got a low oil pressure/stop engine warning! I stopped the engine and called the shop. Apparently this happened to them while on a test drive, but the equip they had hooked up showed it as a sensor problem and not an actual pressure issue and that it was ok to drive. Since they failed to inform me before I left thier shop, they replaced the sensor and cleaned the screen at no charge.
On the way home from the shop the 2nd time, I got a CEL and a trac contorl/stabilitrak light. Took it to O'Reily's and they said it was "running lean - P0171). I took it back to the shop this am and they just called and said the intake manifold gasket and the brakelight switch both need replacing. They said they smoke tested and it was coming from cylinder 1.
My question is, could ALL of this been bad timing, bad luck or could something have happened while my truck sat for a month that would explain all of these issues? To me, I'm skeptical that all of this could have happened at the same time, ie conicidece, without some other explaination or foul play at the shop. As I said, I've never had any issues with it and it was fine/not presenting codes when the rear end went out.
Thoughts/suggestions? I don't really want to spend another $550 getting these two things fixed if they are all some how related...
thanks!
