Yeah I get that and see where you’re coming from. But for a person who gets sold a transmission when it’s probably just misfires and doesn’t have the knowledge to question and direct the work by a mechanic. I would have said do the plugs, coils, injectors and said don’t touch the tranny until after that work is done. Etc etc.

If they had a warranty the dealer would eat all that and wouldn’t be doing stupid crap, well they probably still would but the customer wouldn’t be paying GM would.

Touché , touché .. all valid

But see how you just said you would have advised OP with their best interest in mind, i guess that was kind of my point, is that if you’re not mechanically inclined either learn to be, or make friends with someone who is lol. If those are not options then yea, i guess just drive new cars and keep a warranty.

Either way it goes you got to pay to play, was just saying there’s more than one way to skin a cat

I can tell you guys this I have spent less than it would have cost me for 1 new car on three used cars including maintenance in the last 10 years and all 3 are still working just fine and I anticipate they will for many more years.

I have 2 older cars (oldest is a 2006 f150 I bought brand new with 220k miles now) and I can say similar. BUT if I had to pay shop rates and told to replace things that weren’t broken I’d be in a way worse spot for sure. I’d probably let my 2006 f150 go if I couldn’t fix it myself. A mechanic repair would cost more than the value of the truck!

I also have a 2022 I bought new and that is still under warranty. However when that expires I’d probably not get an extended; it’s a few thousand for another 5 years. If I had zero mechanical skills or knowledge I’d definitely get it though.
