Ok so my subs haven't really worked right since almost the day my system was installed. After having enough of it I hopped in the back to look at shit with a couple buddies and we tested the battery. Nothing. Completely dead.

So we charged it up a little bit and yup sure enough the subs were bumping strong. So obviously this has been why they haven't been working correctly.

Now my question is, why is it dead? Isn't my alternator suppose to keep that one charged too? Or is it time to upgrade my alt? My battery up front had a perfect charge.

It's not linked to your charging system for some reason. I would take it back and find out how they did the install and find out if they did it corectly and why it isn't working. Don't let them get away with shit because then they will always do that crap. Make them spend the time to figure out why the rear batt isn't being charged by the charging system. If your main batt has a good charge there is nothing wrong with the ALT. For some reason the rear batt is issolated compleatly from the main batt and charging system. Easy thing to do would be to look for an inline fuse on the batt cable that runs to the rear.

I kind of want to take it to a professional. The guy who installed it claims he is, and even has his own car audio stand in a trade center near me, but I just keep having problem after problem and I want to take it to a guy who knows his shit and have him tear my truck apart and fix anything wrong.

did u test the batt with the truck running?
check all the conections and see if the rear bat is connected up front?
its not that hard to check everything out,

Yeah we tested it with the truck running, and as far as I know it's connected to the battery up front on the positive post.

what was the voltage when the truck was running at the back?

id double check the wiring to the batt up front, check connections (positive and grounds)
and see maybe if there is a fuse or something that is in line with the positive to the front batt

I'll have to check those things. When we read the voltage it was flat dead. There was literally nothing.

well if u checked the voltage while the truck was running u shoulda got 14v or so

if u got nothing then its the connection from the rear batt and the front

check the voltage w/ the truck running of the front batt and it should be the same reading to the back batt

if not its FORSURE the connection

good luck

Like I said make sure the cable is there first lol and then trace it back and see if they put an inline fuse on it. also do a resistance check on the rear batt ground and make sure it is getting a good ground. A bad ground will cause that as well. even a dead batt should have some kind of voltage even if it's only 2 or 3 volts. The chemical reaction never stops compleatly to 0.0 volts.
