Yes, they said it showed either one in their system and the 48 would work.
They just gave you an answer of convenience - sure the 48 fits but I doubt their "system" shows the 48 as a replacement - not only a different size but different capacity too. I'll ask my dealer next time to show me in his system.

The 48 is used on the GMT900s, the last body style.

Utterly disgusting that GM is so cheap (Give Mary another bonus,) that they can't even give you an AGM battery from the factory on your $60K+ SUV. Difference between ACDelco 94RPS and 94AGM is about $30. There are a handful of 94R AGM batteries available that offer 800 and 850 CCA. AGM batteries are far superior to lead-acid wet cell batteries.
