When the car was new my wife let the kids watch TV while she was in the doctors for a half hour and had to get a jump after. I assumed she had the key in the run position and that killed the battery. We took it to the dealer and they said all was good. Well a few more times after that the car has went dead like washing it with the radio on. Well last night we cleaned the inside of her car out and the key wasn’t even in the ignition. So the only thing that was on was the dome lights for an hour max. I went to go start it and it cranked low.
Do any of you guys have the same problem? I think it’s a bad battery but it always checks out ok. I trickle charged it last night and went and had it checked at the auto parts store today and it was fine. I know this car is a 2008 but it has always had this problem and it doesn’t sound right that a dome light would drain a battery in an hour.

Mines just as bad....If I shut my truck off and leave the key on engine off with the radio on within 2 minutes I'll get a message on the DIC saying battery low. Also cranks slow in the winter after sitting all night. Just crappy batterys

Also keep in mind that things like OnStar suck the battery dead. Have I told you before how much I dislike OnStar? :Big Laugh:

I have a 2011 and mine will do the same thing. If I'm cleaning the interior I will turn the dome lights off. I have seen several posts on another forum with the same complaint. Several have gone with the Painless Wiring auxillary battery management system since you have a second battery tray anyway. Those that have installed it said it's easy to install and works well. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRF-40120/

These trucks have a lot of gadgets and electrical needs but usually when a battery dies easily or quickly, it is on its way out. I'd just get a new one...a much better one than stock. Mine died a while back too when I was just testing out my HID fogs...didn't bother messing with it...truck is an 07...just got a new battery. They aren't very expensive but can really leave you stranded if they fail.

Do you have any aftermarket equipment installed? When operating accessories, is the key in the ON position but with the engine off? If so, this may contribute to draining the batter, which could result in a low battery state of charge and difficulty cranking the engine. If you use accessories with the engine off, turn the key to the ACC position instead of the ON position.

Another possibility is a loose or corroded connection. These are only suggestions, they are not meant as a diagnosis. If this is a recurring issue, I encourage you to have the vehicle inspected by a certified technician.

Please keep us posted.
