are those side pipes??? or steptubes?

Yep, sidepipes! :D

I had them on for several years. However, with a diesel, they had one, glaring drawback: by dumping the exhaust in front of the rear wheels, the wheels sooted up real bad from the diesel smoke! I had to constantly clean the rear wheels. But they were a lot of fun and sounded great.

When I installed the turbo a few years later, I ditched the side pipes for step tubes, and made my own 4" single exhaust.

You made some quick progress with that! It took me 6 years to get mine to the painting stage!

Thanks! It took me several years to save up for a paint job, and then I was able to do most of the body work all at once. I even had a Rhino liner sprayed in that year.

Here's a pic of me romping on the fuel and snapping a pic of the exhaust:

I loved my Rhino liner! I had it sprayed in 1998, and it was still going strong with no rips, tears, cracks, etc when I sold it in 2009. My only complaint was that it faded pretty quickly. I applied Rhino's renew stuff they sold, but it didn't last too long. Of course, my truck was parked outside in the sun most of its life, too. But that liner was strong. I wasn't easy on it. I used my truck, if you know what I mean!

Those are pipes. The opening are at the rear and they have heat shields. Wonder did you ever got burned a little getting out of the truck.
