What's up bass heads. Bought a L7 and a 400 watt amp off my cousin. I know it's under powered and I know it's in a small box. Wondering what would be the best amp to match up with this specific sub and what size box should I build? And ported or not? Facing the rear or down?
I listen mostly to rap and reggae, for deep bass tones.
Thanks in advance!!

L7 like bigger boxes. That box u have now is tiny. That looks like a 12" woofer?

Box 3cubes after displacement with a port 10"x3.5" tuned to 32hz will serve you nicely.

That Rockford amp will do nicely once u have the corr cut box for the woofer. But we need to know what Ohm woofer you have to get you the right amp for it

Isn't the box its in now, a kicker made box? It should be built to sealed specs for that L7, might be ok unless u wanna go ported like massivespl mentioned. I think on kickers website it says the 12'' L7 is 900 watts rms so the 400 rockford amp will probably be ok but if u wanted to go a little bit more on the power u could.

It's a kicker prefab. Prefabs are junk, always to small and if ported tuned way to high. I have had some kickers and know they like big boxes. The specs I posted above in my last post will hammer.

Sorry . 4 ohm. Dual voice coil. Middle gen L7 I believe. Not the first L and not the newer style.
Also made in China :nolol:

My buddy had this same speaker in a box more than twice this size and it loved the air space. (He had double the power too)
These speakers love big boxes!

This prefab box is junk and has a giant over tuned port on the side like massive said.

I want to get the max out of this speaker. I knew this would be the case, I figure " oh I don't need it that loud" then once you put it in you always want louder , especially if you pull up to a light and you can hear someone else's system over yours ....sad feeling :( lol.
