Hello,
I just got an 09 Tahoe LT and I want to upgrade the factory 17" rims to 20" rims. I want to go with American Racing "Burn" rims 20x8.5 with Nitto NT420 275/55/R20 tires.

The rims are available with either +18 or +30 offset. Which one will be the best fit? I would prefer the rims do not stick outside the fenders, and I hope to avoid any rubbing.

Also, when adding the 20" rims, to I need to have some sort of recalibration/computer update done at the dealership?

Thanks!

I think you want the 30 offset. You can recalibrate if you want but the difference is marginal with 20's and you definitely shouldn't experience any rubbing at all with that size set.

Thanks for the response, that confirms my assumptions. I find myself tempted by the 22's but I think the 20's should work for me.

Thanks again

get the 22's bro

Well assuming I did go for 22's, I'd want to go with the same rim type. So I guess it would be the 22x9.5 burn, with the choice again for +18 or +30 offset. Would the +30 offset and a tire size of 285/45R22 still fit without rubbing or sticking out? This is a 2wd 2009 LT.

I think the 22's look nice, but again I don't want the wheels sticking way out or rubbing. In my twenties I had lifted trucks with big tires and they rubbed and I did not mind. But I am in my thirties now with a family so I don't want ridiculous sounds coming from the truck every time I turn, and I hope 22's don't make it seem like I ran over a land mine every time I hit a bump in the road! I just want a clean aggressive look that fits properly.

I'm running 22's x 9.5 with a +18 offset with 285/45R22 tire and I have absolutely no rubbing and obviously no sticking out. I'm not a flashy guy rather just did not like the 17" stock wheels. I went back and forth between 20's and 22's on my 08 LT and I am pleased with the 22's and I thought the ride was better when I put them on with a set of yoko parada spec x tires replacing the goodyear stock tires also helps. The argument that changed it for me was that the new body style wheel wells are much bigger and can run 26" wheels comfortably...so the 22's on it are more like the 20's looked on the old body style. Plus your looking at a wheel with a decent size lip on them, that (IMO) makes the wheel look a little smaller at least when looking at them head on.

Thanks madodger88. I guess since both will fit comfortably I have a decision to make. I actually saw a yukon today with 22's and the 285/45's and it looked nice. I'll think about it for a week and then pull the trigger on one or the other.

I run 24x10 rims and 295/35 tires with a +18 offset and my wheels in the front stick out a bit but not too much where I don't like it. I was very skeptical with going with the +18 offset because I thought it may stick out too much but I am very happy with them. No rubbing at all.

My Yukon is lowered, on 22's with +35 and 305/40/22. I dont rub anywhere. Go with a 305/40/22 on a stock height and you will be fine.
