Goodyear Fortera SL Edition
I'm using Goodyear Fortera SL Edition 305/45/22. They do rub the plastic covers a bit when locked, I have to trim them down about 1". See pic
305/45/22 also slows down the acceleration, and lowers the speedometer by 7%, due to the larger diameter. 305/40/22 may avoid all these problems.
The cornering of 305 is much stronger than the stock 265/70/16, since I don't like to slow down too much on ramps/corners, the 305/45/22 helps a lot. The traction is great, even in snow(with 4X4).
However, I observed highway gas mileage lose, down from 18 to 14. I believe this is due to wider tire sizes. City gas mileage keeps the same, around 14 if drive gently.
I think I can put on 285/45/22 next time, it should help the highway gas mileage, but I don't want to down grade the current cornering. Any suggestions? Thanks.
